Energy Hygiene

Energy hygiene is the maintenance and care for your own energy. It is each person’s responsibility to manage and care for their own energy, just as they would for their physical health.

Understanding how to manage and care for your own energy is foundational to caring for your overall health and well-being. Health and well-being is not limited to just physical and mental health, it also includes emotional and spiritual health. In fact, your emotional and spiritual health is the foundation to good physical and mental health. When your energy is balanced and unblocked—or flowing naturally like a river—it leads to good health and well-being. And you have the potential power to determine this. No amount of band-aids or consumerist solutions can ever mask this unbreakable truth.

How can one practice energy hygiene?

Healing
All humans on this planet are tasked with the individual job of healing right now. Without healing and letting go of old energy, one cannot ‘have’ better health and wellbeing, live a peaceful, harmonious, joyful and prosperous life, nor fulfill their higher purpose. Inner work and healing is done through meditation, self-reflection, bringing what’s inside to the light, working through feeling traumas, past experiences and fears, letting go of the past and making peace inside.

Healing is absolutely essential to cleaning the energy inside of you. You must be the one to do this for your self. Only you hold on to the energy inside of you and only you can let go of the energy inside of you.

Grounding
Exercising grounding practices that connect you to the Earth from where our form comes from. Plug in to receive the nourishment, love and support from the energetic system of this planet.

Energy Movement and Cleaning
Exercising energy movement and releasing practices that clear out energetic waste and noise from your mind, body, and energy field.

Water
Water and salt are the ultimate purifiers of external energy noise. Go to the ocean and take a swim. Take an energetic cleansing shower or bath with salts. Or even give yourself a foot bath with salts.

Nature
Go for a slow forest or nature ‘bath’, bathe yourself in the energy of the trees and nature which will show you what it means to be full of peace and love. Gain some clarity, inspiration and restoration.

Discernment and Boundaries
Minimize the load of external energy influences, noise and waste by practicing better energy boundaries. This can take the form of prioritizing your needs, having greater awareness of what content you consume or the conversations you have. Everything is an energy exchange so be conscious of what those are.

Environment
Living in natural environments and cultivating clean, well cared for, and peaceful, beautiful, loving homes will lessen the load and make it easier to care for your energy and wellbeing. Create the home you need for your self—one that actually makes you happy to be in. Endeavor to resolve all conflict and make the necessary changes for your safety, health and wellbeing, and peace of mind. Clear out all clutter and waste — all objects hold energy. Regularly clean the energy in your homes by burning sage, copal or palo santo.

Presence and Appreciation
Practice awareness of what you can appreciate in your life and all that is good. Nothing is perfect but we can identify many and even simple things that can fill our heart with love. Anything from a loved one to the inspiring tree outside your window to the food on your plate.

Meditation and Prayer
Meditation is absolutely essential to connecting with your internal energy, managing and purifying your internal energy, and listening to its intelligence and guidance.
